UPAYN 2010 Summary:
Children’s day special activity of Deepastambha, stood out of all in many aspects. Starting with amazing fact that it is 1st Activity of DEEPASTAMBHA CHARITABLE TRUST (101st overall). Right from planning the activity, its marketing & implementation everything was top class. The credit goes to Anushka Shembekar & Amol Kulkarni (PMs).
Thought: UPAYN, donation by way of gift is such a unique idea & DS has got a brand name now under which such UPAYN camps will be taken in future. As blood donation was combined with Clothes & Books donation, the response was overwhelming. Anushka Shembekar & Amol Kulkarni gave top priority to this activity & it made sure that this activity becomes a grand success. Printing of the pamphlets, banners etc was well planned & was in time. Best part was the mails were circulated well in advance, so that all members will be in a position to inform their respective participants.
Marketing: Many DS members volunteered for marketing of the event in mornings & evenings at various jogging venues & it also fetched as many as 15 participants & it proves success of the marketing team.
Actions: Sunday morning 8.00, many DS members were present from very beginning of the activity at Dhanvantari hall which was made freely available for us. Tables were arranged, everything was systematically organized. It was looking like a voting booth in some constituency. Welcome desks, goodbye desks were situated properly. Goodbye desks also asked each youth participant to join DS, which might fetch us more enthusiastic members. PMs already had assigned various responsibilities to members to avoid chaos. DS got ready for the event in time. People started coming. 8 blood donation beds made activity fast & in no time many people donated blood. Many people were only for clothes & books donation & that’s why the DS members were throughout busy catering their needs. As many as 40 bags full of clothes & 2 Big boxed of Books were donated by people & 132 Blood bags.
Final Destination: The books and clothes were sent to GOONJ, an NGO working for small children & for Blood Donations our tie up was with Janakalyan Rakta Pedhi as usual. Their skilled doctors made donations very easy and non-painful. Almost 30 people were rejected for HB, tattoos, weight etc. If we could avoid these rejections in next time’s Upayn, we will do wonders. As per Jankalyan, it’s supposed to be highly successful blood donation camp.
This flawless event is now a standard set for others by the PMs. We really can’t express in words the way these two have worked. We are lucky to have such Trustees. Cheers to them and DEEPASTAMBHA CHARITABLE TRUST.
